Being fashionable while trying to stay warm can be very difficult in sub-zero weather. However, by picking up some winter apparel, you’ll endure the freezing temperatures and look great while doing it.

This winter, get cozy in a pair of joggers. These sweatpants are more stylish than a wide-legged pair, but just as comfortable. They come in a variety of colors, and some are fleece-lined for extra warmth. Pair your joggers with sneakers for a sporty look, moccasins for a super snug feel, or dress them up with ankle boots. You can find joggers at American Eagle Outfitters and Target, as well as at many other clothing stores and online.

Ankle boots are very popular this winter. Black or brown ankle boots are extremely versatile, and instantly boost an outfit from casual to stylish. Ankle boots can be found anywhere shoes are sold. For a casual look, wear them with cuffed jeans and a flannel shirt or leggings and an oversized sweater. They can also be worn in a more formal style with tights and a skirt or with a dress. These boots come in a variety of styles: in an edgy combat style, with a simple chunky heel or in an industrial or hiking look (like Timberland boots). Wear them with wool socks when it’s cold or show off fun patterned socks with rolled up jeans.

A must-have, classic winter item is the beanie. This hat will keep your ears warm when it starts snowing, and save you during bad hair days. Beanies come in fits and styles for everyone. There are fun and playful beanies in bright colors and designs, often with a pom-pom on top. There are loose beanies, tight beanies, sports team beanies, comical beanies with words or phrases and even a Smith beanie that you can find at the Campus Center bookstore.

Buy a comfy, plain-colored beanie for everyday use, or start a collection. With the New England winter coming, they won’t go to waste.
