If you’re looking for an appetizing and satisfying weekend brunch with a cozy atmosphere, Jake’s on 17 King Street is perhaps one of the best lunch, breakfast and brunch places Northampton has to offer. Open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. the restaurant offers a wide range of both sweet and savory items, as well as a variety of different sized platters.
If you’re in the mood for something sweet, Jake’s offers fluffy, rich buttermilk pancakes which you can order in stacks of three or individually. With maple syrup and powdered sugar drizzled on top, these pancakes are as delicious as they are filling. Another option for those with an early morning sweet tooth is Jake’s French toast. This too can come in stacks of three or individual slices. The French toast here is just fluffy and moist enough to double as a dessert when covered in maple syrup and/or whipped cream.
For those who prefer something savory, Jake’s has plenty of options, from sandwiches, to breakfast burritos, to eggs cooked in whichever way you prefer. The menu also offers a build-your-own-omelet option where you have the option of choosing which vegetables, meat and cheese you prefer. The scrambled eggs are also worth a try, with their unique savory-yet-creamy taste and texture. They are served with your choice of bread, which you can have with jam or butter, and home fries. The Baystate “Burro” is also a popular choice and is the perfect breakfast burrito for someone who prefers some more flavor. It contains scrambled eggs with Monterey Jack cheese, vegetables, crumbled corn bread and herb-roasted potatoes.
Regardless of what you order you always have the option of adding on sides of black beans, an egg, bacon, a sausage, toast, a bagel, a muffin or avocado, among many other sides. This is an especially good option when you want something sweet as well as something savory. Jake’s also offers an extensive drinks menu which includes everything from coffee and tea, to freshly squeezed juice, to mimosas and beer. Jake’s offers something for everyone, within a reasonable price, no matter your preferences or hunger level.
