As the holiday season approaches, many Smithies are making plans to go back home and visit family, friends and loved ones over the month-long break. Keeping in mind that holiday gatherings and celebrations may await you when you get home, here are some ideas for holiday gifts to bring home from NoHo:

1. Chocolates or fudge from Ben and Bill’s Chocolate Emporium: This place is known for its fresh fudge and homemade chocolate novelties – something distinctly Northampton! Bring home some unique chocolates or assorted pieces of fudge for the chocolate lovers close to your heart. If someone you know has their birthday over the break, you can even find chocolate-covered graham crackers that read “Happy Birthday.”

2. Graphic t-shirts and quirky magnets from Faces: For a fun, affordable gift you can find fridge magnets with sassy quotes on them, guaranteed to bring a smile to the receiver’s face. Some amusing graphic t-shirts would also do the trick. Faces also has a variety of other gift-able items, such as scarves, mugs,  unique bottle openers,  posters, picture frames and fuzzy pillows.

3. Cards from Thornes: You can find cards at multiple places throughout Thornes, from Booklink to downstairs at Acme. Cards are always a great way to capture a long — or short and sweet — message and send holiday greetings to friends and family, wherever they are. They can be as personal, sentimental, funny or formal as you want, and are perfect if you’re on a tight budget. If you’re willing to spend a little more, Thornes has a variety of shops, such as Monella and Cedar Chest, where you can find flowers, candles, clothes or jewelry.

4. Shop Therapy knick-knacks: This is perhaps one of the most unconventional places to get a holiday gift, but that’s part of its charm! Shop Therapy captures Northampton’s alternative, bohemian vibe, and a bag, coin pouch or tie-dyed scarf from here would make a great gift for the hippest person you know.

5. Collectibles from the Artisan Gallery: Although a little on the pricey side, the Artisan Gallery has a beautiful collection of decorative pieces, jewelry, scarves and bags specially designed by local artists and craftspeople. The intricately designed gift items are sure to appeal to any artsy people waiting for you back home!
